Who governs the Association?
The HBACA Board of Directors, comprised of 15 Builders (both high-production and custom), and 5 Associate members.
What are my dues used for?
Representation of the home building industry at the City, County, State and National levels, and the programming (education and business development events), benefits and discount programs provided to members by the Association and the Member Services Team.
Dues seem a little high?
Starting at $900/year, HBACA dues are in line with similar organizations. Last time we checked dues in the Arizona Chapter of the American Subcontractors Association (ASA) started at $1,100/year. Meanwhile, Associated General Contractors dues begin at $1,690/year.
Why so much focus on production builders?
With Arizona being a production home market, it only makes sense that high-pro builders comprise the group that garners the most attention. Their investment in the HBACA is significant, with annual dues and assessments topping out at $50,000/year for the largest builders. It also stands to reason that if the builders are doing well, trades and service providers will also experience economic health. That being said, the Association spends just as much in time and resources working on issues that affect trade contractors and the home building industry as a whole. Recent examples immigration, transaction privilege tax, fall protection, workforce development and reform of construction defect statutes.
Does the Association publish a newsletter? Other information or materials?
Yes. In addition to the biweekly newsletter, the Association publishes an annual membership directory, monthly permit reports, annual legislative report.
