OSHA is now offering “vital safety information whenever and wherever you need it – right on your mobile phone.”  With its Heat Safety Tool App, workers and supervisors can calculate the heat index for their worksites (spoiler alert: it’s really hot in Phoenix) and, based on the heat index, display a risk level to outdoor workers.  Most importantly, with a simple click, you can also get reminders about the protective measures that should be taken at that risk level to protect workers from heat-related illness.  For example, the app will provide reminders about drinking enough fluids, scheduling rest breaks, planning for and knowing what to do in an emergency, and even the signs and symptoms of heat-related illnesses.

The OSHA Heat Safety App is available for both Android and iPhone devices.  In addition, the app is available in English and Spanish.  To access the Spanish version on the iPhone, set the phone language setting to Spanish before downloading the app.
