HBACA Renews ADOSH Safety Partnership for Another 3 Years

For the past three years, many of our home builder members participated in a partnership program between the HBACA and the Arizona Division of Occupational Safety and Health (“ADOSH”). Through the program, our members worked with ADOSH on their overall safety programs and to achieve 5 safety related goals.  In addition, it also presented the opportunity for builders to limit the types of inspections that occurred on their job sites to only the Big Four Hazards (caught between, struck by, electrical, and falls). In our view, the partnership was a great success.

The HBACA is proud to announce that we have reached an agreement with ADOSH to re-new the partnership program for another three years. This renewed agreement will again allow our builder members to work in consultation with ADOSH to develop and enhance their safety programs while limiting the types of inspections on their job sites. Working through the HBACA Safety Committee, the HBACA and ADOSH have identified the following goals for this three-year agreement:

  • Implement 2 best practices
  • Evaluate the use of engineering controls and job planning to identify and mitigate hazards.
  • Encourage trade partners to join ADOSH Partnership or participate in industry led safety education.
  • Work with safety leaders in other industries to evaluate policies and procedures that can be adopted or modified to fit the residential construction industry.
  • Continue to educate builders, trades, and ADOSH on the unique challenges in the residential construction industry and strategies to overcome those challenges.

The HBACA and ADOSH will formally launch the new partnership at our October 22 Safety Committee Meeting. However, builders have already started signing up to participate in the pro-gram. Thank you very much to those companies that participated in the prior Partnership. We are excited to renew the agreement for another three years and hopefully bring many more of you on board.

Please contact Jackson if you would like to participate or if you have questions about the partnership or HBACA’s Safety Committee.
